OUR STORY
The Broome Rodeo as we know it today was restarted in 2013 by Jackie and Todd Walsh. It is now held over two evenings showcasing the talent, grit and community spirit of The Kimberley.

It is one of the premier events in Broome, with over 3000 people in attendance and 100 competitors in 2024.
The Rodeo committee are currently working hard at putting the money back into the grounds - building fences, upgrading the arena, toilet blocks.

The Broome Rodeo is more than a spectacle; it’s a celebration of community, culture, and camaraderie. For competitors, it’s an opportunity to finish the Kimberley circuit in style, combining healthy competition with socialising and reconnecting with station crews. For spectators, it offers thrilling entertainment and a social gathering like no other. For the Broome community, the rodeo creates pride, connection, and economic stimulation. It brings tourists, supports local businesses, and showcases the region’s unique lifestyle. The event’s volunteer-driven organisation exemplifies the spirit of teamwork and generosity that keeps it alive.
A Legacy of Passion and Commitment
The Broome Rodeo continues to thrive thanks to the tireless efforts of dedicated volunteers, local businesses, and the goodwill of the community. From securing sponsorships and organising nominations to transporting cattle and setting up the grounds, every detail is a testament to the passion of those involved. As it stands today, the Broome Rodeo is not just an event; it’s a cherished tradition that brings a bit of the country to Broome, unites people from all walks of life, and ensures that the spirit of the rodeo lives on for generations to come.

TODD WALSH FOUNDATION
Todd and Jackie Walsh were instrumental in re-establishing the Broome Rodeo back in 2013. Todd was a central figure at other drafts and rodeo's across the Kimberley. His cheeky commentary kept everyone entertained and involved. Unfortunately Todd passed away in 2022. The 2023 Todd Walsh Memorial Rodeo was held in his honour and his legacy will continue.
Throughout the rodeo merch will be available to purchase, with all proceeds going to the Todd Walsh foundation.
The Broome Rodeo and Campdraft event delivers several long-term benefits for the sport and the active recreation community in Western Australia, including:
1. Growing Participation & Talent Development
By providing a platform for local riders and stockmen to compete, the event encourages new and existing participants to develop their skills in rodeo and Campdrafting. This helps grow the sport in WA and fosters emerging talent.
2. Strengthening Community Engagement
The event brings together rural and regional communities, strengthening social connections and promoting an active, outdoor lifestyle. It also introduces more people to Western Australia’s rich outback and equestrian heritage.
3. Boosting Regional Economy & Tourism
